Aarons communication is efficient and timely and his team always arrive on-site the day they are scheduled to attend.

Other than being soft underfoot, carpet is a popular flooring type due to a number of reasons. It has great insulation properties and can help keep your house cooler in the winter months. For those with multi-level homes, carpet is great at helping manage sound on upper levels (softens foot steps and moving furniture that can be a nuisance for lower levels). It can also assist with safety on landings for tricky staircases.
If you have children and pets, carpet can be more resilient than timber floors as you don’t have to worry about scratches or similar. Of course, spills can be an issue with carpet over hard flooring, but with the right carpet and carpet cleaners, carpet can be a perfect solution for families.
Our expert team offer recommendations for different carpet types (in terms of fibre and cut), so we always recommend booking a Showroom Consultation so we can learn a little more about who you are, your family, your needs and of course, your budget for your new carpet.
With a huge selection of carpets available in a variety of fibre types, colours, styles and designs, you may be left thinking “how do I choose a carpet for my home?” Well, to help you make the best decision for your home or renovation we’ve provided some handy tips below:
If you’re directing your project towards a specific style, whether it be hamptons, coastal, industrial, modern or more, you’ll want to choose a residential carpet that marries with that design type.Â
Modern carpets come in a variety of cuts and can even incorporate multiple colours via a speckled effect—offering you a variety of carpeting styles to choose from.Â
Choosing to work with an Interior Designer can also help ensure that the carpet you choose is perfect for your project.
Comfortability also plays an important role when choosing the right carpet for your project, home or renovation. Carpets are, of course, softer underfoot than most types of flooring but choosing a carpet based solely on softness alone isn’t always the best approach.Â
Carpet plush and comfort depends on the fibres used as well as the thickness of those fibres. If you want a solution that provides maximum comfort, then you should check out our wool and super soft nylon carpets. A quality underlay is also important in the overall comfort of the space.Â
Our wool carpet and nylon carpets come in various styles giving you the opportunity to pick one that blends perfectly with your home design and decor.
From natural fibres to synthetics, carpets today are constructed from a variety of materials. The most common being wool, polyester, polypropylene and nylon. Each of these materials varies when it comes to durability, longevity, comfort and cost.
For example, most wool carpets and nylon carpets are soft underfoot, each solution offering its own range of benefits from high durability and longevity. Polypropylene carpets are entry level, and while they offer a level of comfort, the fibre is synthetic and lacks durability. At One Source Flooring, we supply and install carpets constructed from each of these fibres (and more), each delivering on varying levels of comfort, durability and budget.Â
Something that’s not always considered is the backing of your carpet. In short, backing is the material that makes up the underside of your carpet. Quality backing secures the carpet tuft and adds strength and stability.
Common backing materials include jute, polyester or rubber, each offering different qualities to the overall construction of your carpet. Considering backing is important because carpet with higher quality backing can assist in the longevity of your carpet installation.
Offering a wide variety of carpets means that we can provide solutions for varying budgets. For most customers, when choosing residential carpet on the Gold Coast, having a set budget is important. Providing our team this figure can assist us in sourcing the most appropriate carpet for your project.Â
When setting your budget, it’s important to consider how long you will be in your home. How long do you want (or need) the carpet to last? Is it better to choose a higher-quality carpet now to reduce replacement costs in the future? Some residential warranties are as little as three years, while others span 20. This is an important consideration for forever homes.Â

Here are some popular choices:
Polyester carpets are generally entry-level carpets that offer a short-term solution for renovators looking to buy and sell investment properties. They are an economical carpet—great for those renovating on a budget. .
Nylon carpets are known for their durability and feeling luxurious underfoot. At One Source Flooring, we offer both soft and super-soft nylon carpets in a range of weights. So if you’re looking for a residential carpet that provides both comfort and sophistication, Nylon is a great option.Â
If you’re looking for an affordable, economical carpet, polypropylene carpets could be the answer. These carpets are generally entry-level and aren’t known for their longevity, but they do come in a variety of styles, so you’re sure to find one that suits your needs and budget.Â
Wool carpets are becoming increasingly popular in Gold Coast properties. It’s not surprising since wool carpet is eco-friendly, naturally hypoallergenic and easy to clean—making it a perfect choice for bedrooms.Â
Our wool carpets come in various styles, colours and textures from some of Australia’s best suppliers.
There are a number of factors that need to be considered when quoting the total cost of installing carpet in your property. At One Source Flooring, we manage the entire carpet installation process from start to finish and, because we’ve completed your measure and have supplied your carpet—we can provide an accurate, fixed-price quote.Â
When calculating supply costs per square metre, it’s important to note that carpet roll widths vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Depending on the carpet rolls, their placement and the placements of joints need to be positioned in specific areas depending on the room’s configuration. ‘Wastage’ is also required, ‘generally’ an extra 15-20% on top of the net area. By taking these factors into consideration, you will have a more realistic idea on the square meterage you require for the job.
We recommend booking a free in-home measure and quote so that our expert team can provide an accurate quote. Other important considerations include:
Before installing the carpet, there may be a need to prepare your floor. If the project is a renovation, either you or our carpet installers would need to remove the old carpets and ensure that the floor is clean, level and in top condition — ready for your new carpet.
The number of rooms that need new carpet installation will influence the overall cost. Generally speaking, the cost per square metre of your carpet reduces as your requirements increase.Â
Installing carpet in a rectangular-shaped room will cost less than a room that’s an odd shape or has round edges. This is purely due to the increase in time taken to complete the room as it’s more complexÂ
Carpet installation on stairways requires accurate measurement, cutting and precise installation Due to the complexity of installing carpets on stairways and the time taken to do so, you may need to pay extra for installation.Â
We understand that not everyone can move big, heavy furniture. Choosing to take-up a furniture removal service can marginally increase your cost. If you’ve got the muscle to move furniture, we recommend doing this prior to installation to save some money.
If your property is in a highrise (or similar) and access to the space is an issue, this may increase the cost of your installation. If specific equipment or machinery is required to transport your materials to your property, this will be worked into your quote.
Generally the fibre type of your carpet doesn’t influence the cost of your installation. However, if you choose carpet that has a pattern that requires additional time to install it, this may increase the cost.Â
Buying and installing carpet on your Gold Coast property is an investment, so it’s important to employ the services of an expert carpet installer. At One Source Flooring, we regularly receive rave reviews from our customers and only pick the best installers for the job.
At One Source Flooring, we offer our customers access to our free in-home measure and quote service. As we have previously mentioned, we do prefer our customers to come into our showroom first to choose their carpet, however if you’d like to get an idea on the size of your space to help get a quote underway, we can offer the following advice.
Firstly, if your room is a standard shape (rectangle or square), simply use a standard tape measure, measure the opposing walls and multiply the width of your space by the length. If your room is an odd shape or has wardrobes, we suggest sketching the space and adding the dimensions. For wastage, we suggest adding an additional 10%.
As carpet comes in different sized rolls, our team will work their magic to ensure that we optimally use your carpet roll so that you get the best value for your money.
With all carpets, you want to tend to any spills immediately. Follow the cleaning recommendations provided within your care and maintenance guide and use quality products that are not going to bleach your carpet. It’s important not to rub any stains into your carpet as this can damage the carpet and void your warranties.
It’s important to note that different carpets can actually require different cleaning methods, so what may have been recommended in a previous home or on a previous carpet may not be the same as your new carpet, so always check your manufacturer’s instructions.
When it comes to choosing the right vacuum cleaner, check out our blog and the link below (we recommend checking out our Sebo Vacuum range). A great all-rounder is our Sebo X7 Upright Boost as it has:

Unfortunately, this is not a one size fits all answer. The longevity of your carpet depends on the quality of the product (we’ll run through ASSC ratings and warranties with you in our showroom), how the carpet has been manufactured, the carpet fibre type and cut and how your space is used. When choosing the right carpet for your Gold Coast home, you need to consider how long you will be living there and how long you would want the carpet to last.
High traffic areas, rooms or walkways will generally experience higher levels of wear and tear, so you may notice changes in your carpet in these spots or areas earlier than other areas. There are varying fibre heights and types that we recommend for high traffic areas, so we recommend discussing the room uses with our Sales team.
We also recommend proper, regular cleaning and maintenance (we now offer vacuums that are specifically designed to maintain the length of your carpet) to not only maximise the length of your carpet, but to assist in maintaining your carpets guarantees/warranty. Quickly cleaning up spills, not rubbing stains into carpets and using quality cleaning products will also assist in helping your carpet last.
People often ask, “how long should I wait to replace the carpet for my home?” Or “can I permanently install a carpet for my home?”
The longevity of our carpet depends on a variety of factors including how you use the space, foot traffic, how well you maintain the carpet and the manufacturer’s warranties and guarantees. Some carpet is guaranteed for as little as three years, where others come with 20+ years warranties! We list the warranties on our website and can discuss these with you further in our showroom.
Carpet pile refers to the height and density of your carpet fibres. Low pile carpet has short fibres that look and feel flat and dense. High pile carpet is higher and loser.Â
We recommend low pile carpets for rooms with heavy foot traffic like stairs, some bedrooms and hallways.
High pile carpets are great for rooms where you want to experience the ultimate plush feeling, like living rooms, media rooms, parent retreats and so on.
Regularly rotating heavy furniture in your rooms can help you avoid carpet indentations. If you have furniture (like a bed or couch) that doesn’t move, it can be hard to avoid any permanent indentations.Â
Once your flooring has been installed, you are ok to put your furniture back into your space, so don’t worry about waiting. This won’t make a difference for carpet indentations.
