Renovating Your Gold Coast Property?

Are you purchasing or have you recently purchased a ‘fixer upper’ or existing home on the Gold Coast? If you’re looking to renovate and update your existing flooring, our Sales Exec, Kris has provided some great tips on how to tackle your carpet and/or flooring in your Gold Coast house renovation.

1. Choose Your Flooring in Our Showroom

The best time to choose your new carpet or flooring is as close as possible to the date your purchase offer has been accepted. At One Source Flooring, we sell and install a wide range of carpet, timber, hybrid, laminate and vinyl flooring so it’s important to visit our Showroom to assist in your initial selection.

It sometimes can take a couple of visits to make your final decision—especially when choosing both carpet and hard flooring. It also may take a few weeks to order in your flooring, so we always recommend coming in as early as you can.

Things to Consider: During this stage, it’s important to consider how the property will be used (investment property or live-in), if you have children or pets, how long you’re planning on living in the property, what style and colour schemes you’re choosing in your renovation.

2. Book in Your Measure and Quote

When you purchase a ‘renovator’ you may only receive real estate plans which are often not to scale and sometimes, don’t have the exact measurements.

While we can get a rough idea of your room sizes, we need to be as accurate as possible (this can often save you money), so we recommend booking in your free measure and quote during your building and pest inspection. This is also a great time to see the samples you chose in the showroom inside your new property.

3. Lock-In Your Installation Dates

Depending on the date your home settles, the complexity of your renovation and the trades that are involved, it’s important to work out a timeline that ensures that your flooring is going down when it needs to. This is particularly important with kitchen renovations as different flooring needs to be laid during varying stages of the renovation. We’re happy to work with interior designers, builders and your kitchen installer to work out the best timing for your new flooring.

Once the floor install dates are locked in you can organise your furniture to be delivered to your property. We also recommend reviewing our pre-installation guide to ensure you prepare your home for installation.

4. Out With The Old,
In With The New!

Depending on whether or not you have decided to remove your existing flooring yourself, or engage with professionals (like us!), now’s the time to remove your existing flooring. At this stage, any work required to prepare your flooring can be discussed and final install costs will be confirmed.

5. Enjoy Your New Flooring

Once installation is complete, it’s time to enjoy your new flooring!

At One Source, we provide our customers with a post-installation guide that outlines any important information from our manufacturers. Following these guidelines will help you maintain your warranties/guarantees.
